Over the next three years Alabama is celebrating its Bicentennial. The actual Bicentennial year is 2019 but events began this year.

Shenandoah is well known for hits like “Next to You, Next to me”, “Two Dozen Roses”, “Church on Cumberland Road”, “Mama Knows”, as well as beautiful classics in “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the Grammy winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” duet with fellow country musician, Alison Krauss. Because of Marty Raybon’s vocals, which are like no other, and the skilled musicianship of the band, Shenandoah became the forefront of country music radio stations and country lovers’ discussions.

These are just a couple of ways you can explore the great outdoors in the foothills of the Appalachians. It’s summertime in Alabama… get out there and enjoy it before football season begins!

The Alabama Tourism Department brought a little bit of Sweet Home Alabama to the streets of New York City with a promotion that kicked off on June 14, 2017.
