Glass Beadmaking

Glass Beadmaking We will host glass bead instructor Terry Hale of Hale Fire Glass for a two-day beginners glass beadmaking class at the Mentone Arts Center. Class Description: Glass beadmaking, also known as lampwork, is an ancient art that is still an honored craft. In this introductory, students will learn the amazing process of making glass beads.
Students will work with rods of beautiful colored glass that they’ll melt over an open flame torch. Students will then work on basic shaping followed by adding dots, lines, sprinkles of color, and much more. Detailed safety instructions will be covered throughout the day. At the end of class we’ll talk about how to wear and display the beads and offer some interesting ideas for using them in non-wearable ways.
