Birding 101 Hike
Birding 101 Hike Have you always wanted to learn more of the basics of bird identification? Birding is an excellent way to explore and connect to nature in a new and different way. It is a great skill, a fun activity, and easy to learn. Join Ashley Peters from AL DCNR (State Lands Division) for an early morning hike on the boardwalk and along some of the trails around Azalea Cascade. There are approximately 430 species of birds that call Alabama home, so we hope to see some of our feathered friends and learn how to identify them based on sight and sound. Discover how to use current technology to become a better birder. Prior birding experience is not necessary, just have your eyes and ears ready for bird activity! Feel free to bring binoculars. Meet at DeSoto State Park Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail on County Road 89. Free, no pre-registration required. Great for all ages!
