DeKalb a Prime Spot to Celebrate National Cherish an Antique Day
DeKalb a Prime Spot to Celebrate National Cherish an Antique Day
By Emily Kirby
Whether it’s the exhilaration of finding a good deal or the nostalgia connected with certain items, antiquing has become a popular pastime for all generations. In DeKalb County, there are more than a dozen shops filled to the brim with vintage furniture, vinyl records, and hundreds of unique finds, the perfect place to celebrate National Cherish an Antique Day on April 9.
Cherish an Antique Day encourages shoppers, collectors, and those who have inherited family heirlooms to look at the deeper stories behind their favorite pieces. Designed to be spent recording and safekeeping information about those pieces, the holiday reminds us that these items are more than just objects, they represent part of our history. While we all cherish the ones we already have, this day can also be spent searching for something new (to us) to add to our collections.
To celebrate by looking for new-to-you pieces, stop by any of our local shops:
