Congo Nature Preserve

Congo Nature Preserve and Congo Falls Park is located along the borders of Little River Canyon National Preserve in Dekalb and Cherokee County Alabama. Congo Nature Preserve was developed to protect area lands along the canyon within Congo, Alabama. Congo, Alabama is a recently discovered, lost historical community from the late 1800s named Congo. ​We want to preserve these lands to be discovered and enjoyed by our future generations.  Visitors can access swimming, hiking, sightseeing, picnicking. Parking at Congo Falls Park requires a single use permit from April 1st to October 1st.  Permits are not required from October 2nd to March 31st. Boater/Kayaker season permits are available at no charge, but only from September 1st to  April 30th and subject to approval.
