A Living History Portrayal
A Living History Portrayal Featured speaker: Dr. George W. Cobb, retired Methodist minister and living historian whose ministry includes serving as Volunteer Chaplain for a variety of historical organizations. Dr. Cobb will portray the Reverend Samuel Doak, an 18th century Presbyterian missionary pastor who established several frontier churches and was a member of the local militia during the American Revolution. He will also share a display he has created about Revolutionary War history. The Reverend Samuel Doak addressed several Patriot Frontier Militia groups during their muster at Sycamore Shoals near the historic Watauga Settlement in the Colony of North Carolina (modern day Elizabethton, TN) on September 26, 1780 during the Revolutionary War. The Reverend Doak was an 18th century Presbyterian missionary pastor who established several frontier churches and was a member of the local militia. The program is free and open to the public.
