First Day Hike-Hike to Little Falls New Year’s Day-2023- Little River Canyon National Preserve Start the New Year with a first day hike at Little River Canyon National Preserve. Join JSU Field School staff on a beautiful outdoor adventure hike from Little River Falls and to Little Falls. This hike is a strenuous 2-mile journey with varying steep terrain and approximately 140 stone steps into the canyon. Come on out and burn those calories while enjoying the Great Outdoors! First Day Hikes are staff-led hikes, held annually on New Year’s Day thru-out the Country, and are designed to encourage visitors to enjoy parks year round and to promote good health and exercise by working off those calories gained during the holidays.
