Junior Ranger Adventure Series: History Hike
Junior Ranger Adventure Series: History Hike This once-a-month hike is designed for explorers aged 3 to 103! Participants will have the opportunity to earn the coveted DeSoto State Park Junior Ranger Patch while discovering the wonders of nature and the park’s historical treasures. About the hike: the hike is considered moderate, because of the uneven, rocky terrain. Each month will utilize a different trail in the park, be beginner friendly, and be between 1-3 miles each. We will take our time, so this hike is good for all skill levels. We will hike along the White Trail to the Historic CCC Rock Quarry to learn about how DeSoto was built and see some cool rock formations. Backpack with plenty of water, lunch, snacks. And a journal with a pen or pencil. Closed-toed shoes. DeSoto State Park, Fort Payne, Alabama. Meet at the Benefield Nature Center next to the Country Store on County Road 89. Free, but RSVP is required, so we know how many to expect.
